Activist Ravikumar Basalingappa, in a complaint submitted on Oct 31, alleged that the university registrar and management had illegally approved the appointments and issued orders despite the code being in force. Raichur : Raichur deputy commissioner Poovitha S has constituted a team to investigate allegations that University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur, approved appointments to professor posts and issued orders while the model code of conduct was in force for the Legislative Council’s North-East Teachers’ constituency election. The team will examine the recruitment process, rules and procedures followed, approval granted for the appointments and whether issuing orders during the election period violated the model code. He sought action against those responsible. The inquiry team comprises Lingasugur assistant commissioner Nagendrababu Kumar, social welfare department deputy director Krishna Shavantagera, deputy commissioner’s office Shirastedar Sugalesh Desai and first division assistant Satyanarayana.

It must submit a report containing its findings, observations and recommendations, the deputy commissioner said. The team has been directed to visit the university, examine original records and obtain information and explanations from the officials concerned. Download the TOI App.
