The car was completely mangled in the impact after road accident
The accident occurred around 11 am near Shindewadi Phata, close to Patrud village in Beed district. The deceased have been identified as Omkar Mahadev Giri (25), Anil Shen (30), Samarth alias Mauli Gajanan Namdas (12), Hrithik Motilal Bade (18) and Gajanan Mahadev Namdas (36). Police said Gajanan and 12-year-old Samarth were father and son. Based on his complaint, police have registered an offence under the BNS Section 106(1) (causing death by a rash or negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide) as well as BNS Section 281 (rash or negligent driving).
Majalgaon rural police station in-charge Vijay Ramod said the car, carrying the devotees, rammed into an ST bus coming from the opposite direction. The bus driver tried to swerve but could not avoid impact,” Ramod said. “A preliminary probe suggests over-speeding as the cause of the accident. It is suspected the car was over-speeding and entered the opposite lane, leading to the head-on collision.
The kin of the deceased in his complaint before the police blamed the private contractor who constructed the road stretch, alleging unsafe construction.
