Because of one or more failed subjects, they can appear for a second examination shortly after the declaration of the Summer-2026 results, an initiative taken by the university to prevent loss of an academic year for students. Nagpur: For final-year students at Gondwana University (GU), failing a paper will no longer necessarily mean waiting months for another attempt.
For eligible students who fail the main final-year examination, the second examination is scheduled within 10 days of declaration of results. The university received more than 4,500 applications from students who did not clear their final-year examinations. The second examination began on Aug 18, starting with final-year BSc students, and is being conducted at a limited number of centres. GU plans to declare the results by Aug 30, Bokare said.
Bokare, whose tenure is due to end in December, said discussions were held with the university’s Management Council before taking the decision. Management Council member Prashant Mohite said the timetable has already been announced and described the initiative as a first for the university. The university has also introduced on-screen evaluation for this examination cycle.
“It could provide an academic cushion to students who narrowly miss clearing their papers,” he said. GU, which was carved out of Nagpur University, traditionally conducts summer and winter examinations. Answer books are scanned after the examinations and made available digitally to evaluators, who assess them and upload the marks. This enables tabulation and result processing to begin as individual papers are evaluated, potentially shortening the overall result-processing time.
Students will receive validated copies of their evaluated answer sheets two to three days after the results are declared on their login ID. They can examine the copies and, if necessary, apply for revaluation.
