Mumbai: A Bandra couple has been searching for their 76-year-old “adopted uncle”, Ramnarayan Chaudhary, who went missing on Sept 15.
Sahid and Rehana told the police that Chaudhary had lived with them for 25 years and he had no relatives and had worked as a watchman before retiring. “Chaudhary left their home at 5.30 pm on Tuesday, saying he would return in an hour as usual.
The couple searched for him before approaching the police,” said a Bandra police officer. An officer said the police were following the standard operating procedure by gathering information about missing people across the city. Bandra police have registered an abduction and kidnapping case and are trying to trace him. Bandra police have registered a kidnapping case following a Bombay High Court order after receiving a missing person complaint from Shahid, who suspected Chaudhary might have been abducted. They had also sought details from hospital morgues and of injured people matching Chaudhary’s description. Police were examining the local CCTV footage to trace him.
Their son, Rehan Shaikh, said Chaudhary had lived with the family for 25 years and had no health or memory problems.
Rehan said Chaudhary went for an evening walk every day.
