Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : Police authorities across Marathwada have decided to keep the 10-day Ganeshotsav free of DJ sound systems, with the ban to be enforced particularly during Ganesh idol immersion processions.
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city commissioner of police, Pravin Pawar, said the police had gone all out last year to enforce the ban, and it has remained effective since then. Citizens and mandals are supporting us,” Pawar said. Beed superintendent of police, Navneet Kanwat, said the district had successfully celebrated a DJ-free Ganeshotsav last year and that the practice has continued during subsequent festivals. Latur superintendent of police, Amol Tambe, said the ban has been extended to all festive occasions. This year, too, it will remain in force,” Tambe said.
Police units in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (city and rural), Beed, Nanded , Hingoli, Jalna, Latur, Parbhani, and Dharashiv districts have issued directives to ensure compliance with noise pollution norms. In several districts, this will be the second consecutive year of enforcing restrictions on DJ sound systems during the festival. Police authorities in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city, Jalna, Parbhani, and Latur have issued official communications to Ganesh mandals, DJ operators, and the public, citing relevant laws and court rulings while warning of strict action against violators. We have also registered cases against violators.
“Last year, we made a concerted effort to enforce the ban on DJ sound systems during Ganeshotsav, and it has been effective ever since. Last year, the city police even sealed entry and exit points during the festival to prevent DJ sound systems from being brought into the city. “The ban on DJ sound systems has been effective since last year for all festive seasons.
