Pune: A 26-year-old man was arrested by Dehu Road police for allegedly trespassing into an army establishment and stealing a sandalwood tree worth Rs10,000 on Wednesday. An officer from Dehu Road police said, “Madhe, a daily-wage worker, entered the premises by cutting through the mesh compound around 1 am along with his two accomplices. Madhe has been booked under sections 303 (theft), 329 (criminal trespass) and 324 (mischief) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

A security guard at the army establishment in Dehu Camp caught the accused, Ravindra Madhe of Sangamner in Ahilyanagar district, while two of his accomplices escaped. The trio cut down a sandalwood tree and were escaping when a security guard spotted them and caught Madhe. We are looking for the other two. One is from Ahilyanagar and the other from Junnar taluka.
