V Radha, the committee chairperson and additional chief secretary for general administration, held a news conference on Monday in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The meeting aimed to address the concerns of job aspirants following a recent direct dialogue with them. Radha’s remarks focused on the committee’s commitment to transparency and responsiveness to the needs of candidates seeking opportunities in the region.
Radha said the panel had interacted with about 1,750 students — 600 in Pune, 350 in Nagpur and 800 in Amravati — and received more than 20,000 emails. She said over 1,400 stakeholders had deposed in person. With nearly 12 lakh candidates expected to appear for upcoming exams, the panel will also assess infrastructure and manpower requirements. The task force’s division-wise consultations will conclude on Sept 30, and its final report is expected within three months. Constituted on Sept 4, the panel has been mandated to overhaul Maharashtra ’s recruitment examination system with a focus on transparency and eliminating paper leaks.

Radha said the panel was reviewing every stage of the recruitment process, including exam scheduling, question paper quality, examination centres, invigilator training, evaluation, normalisation, results, litigation and final appointments. The panel has also received suggestions on improving question paper quality, making answer keys and evaluation more transparent, prescribing minimum infrastructure standards for exam centres, professionally training supervisors, and ensuring timely declaration of results, waitlists and appointments, according to Radha. On exam security, Radha said, “The committee is studying best practices from other states and UPSC to prevent paper leaks and strengthen safeguards in both online and offline examinations. MPSC is a critical institution and reforms will be proposed with students’ sentiments in mind to make the process transparent and efficient,” DGP Date said. Member-secretary Ramaswami highlighted the need for clear eligibility norms, centre audits and secure evaluation systems, while Nashik divisional commissioner Gedam said aspirants had shared detailed feedback on computer-based versus offline exams, objective versus descriptive formats, waiting lists and third-party audits.
“The overwhelming demand is for a fixed, predictable schedule for prelims, mains and interviews. Committee members director general of police Sadanand Date, member-secretary N Ramaswami and Nashik divisional commissioner Praveen Gedam were also present. The task force is also examining standard operating procedures for paper distribution and exam conduct, technology-based audits of examination centres and a transparent normalisation formula for multi-shift tests. It will recommend protocols for exam cancellations to protect selected candidates and consider age relaxation for aspirants affected by administrative delays. “All suggestions are being documented.
