Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Local Crime Branch (LCB), Beed, has seized around 60 kg of ganja, valued at Rs30 lakh.
The accused has been arrested and an offence has been registered at Beed Rural police station under Sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(C) of the NDPS Act, 1985. Beed SP office has urged the citizens to share information about drug peddlers, suppliers, transporters and premises used for illegal activities on Anti-Narcotics Cell helpline 9270243200.
Police said they received a tip-off that a 60-year-old resident of Navgan Rajuri had stored a large quantity of ganja in his house for illegal sale “On weighing with an electronic scale, the contraband was found to be around 60 kg, valued at Rs30,03,500,” said police inspector Shivaji Bantewad. Police said the action was taken during a special drive against illegal trades, narcotics smuggling, storage and sale under the guidance of Beed SP Navneet Kanwat. “The identity of the informants will be kept confidential and strict action will be taken after verification,” the police said.
Further probe is being conducted by Beed Rural police.
