Garage fire
Nagpur: A fire broke out at an automobile workshop in Bank Colony, Teka Naka, early Friday morning, gutting 17 two-wheelers kept at the garage for servicing, causing losses estimated at around Rs7 lakh. The fire broke out at around 3.42am in the workshop on Nari Road. A fire tender from Sugat Nagar fire station reached the spot within minutes and firefighters brought the blaze under control by around 5.27am. The fire brigade’s spot report recorded that 17 two-wheelers were damaged in the blaze. The doctor said he received a call from Yadav around 3.30am informing him that his clinic had caught fire.
No casualties were reported.
Yadav said he had lodged a police complaint at Kapil Nagar police station. The workshop owner alleged that the fire was set by a sacked mechanic of the garage. Yadav alleged the employee set fire to the workshop. The flames rapidly spread through the premises, damaging vehicles kept for repairs and also affecting adjoining establishments. The fire also damaged a nearby clinic. The blaze also damaged portions of the building, including the roof and adjoining shops. The overall loss from the incident is estimated at around Rs10 lakh. The alleged motive and exact cause of the fire are yet to be established.
