Palakkad : A 48-year-old man died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Perinthalmanna on Thursday night after developing symptoms of suspected encephalitis (brain fever).

The deceased, Abhilash, was a native of Thenkara in Mannarkkad and was working at Mannarkkad Cooperative Bank. He reportedly developed physical discomfort last Wednesday while at the bank. His colleagues then took him to a private hospital in Mannarkkad. As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to a private hospital in Perinthalmanna for advanced treatment.
