Kochi : Palarivattom Police on Saturday arrested a 37-year-old man for allegedly assaulting a woman who runs a roadside eatery near the Palarivattom bypass.
Anton allegedly bore a grudge against the 40-year-old woman after she told him the day before Onam that meat gravy was unavailable with porotta and that only sambar was being served, according to the FIR. Police said Anton approached the woman around 6.45pm on Friday, verbally abused her and allegedly assaulted her when she tried to record the incident on her phone. He also allegedly threatened to prevent her from running the stall peacefully and vandalise it, police said. The arrested person is Stephanson Anton of Chenmmannar in Idukki . The woman fell to the ground, following which Anton allegedly stomped on her chest. Anton was taken into custody the next day and has been remanded in judicial custody. He was booked under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for offences including wrongful restraint, voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation and obscene acts. Download the TOI App.
