The driver of the Tamil Nadu-registered truck lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a steep downhill stretch at Varakkad, according to the police. The deceased have been identified as Devendran from Madhya Pradesh and Manasar, a native of Chhattisgarh. The vehicle then crashed into a nearby house and overturned. The deceased persons include the driver and his co-worker. The house and the vehicle suffered severe damage in the crash. However, the three family members sleeping inside the house escaped without injuries. An electric post was also damaged in the incident, disrupting electricity supply to the area.
Kannur: Two people were killed when a borewell drilling truck overturned onto a house near Varakkad junction at West Eleri in Kasaragod on Saturday. The incident happened around 1am on Saturday.
Residents who rushed to the spot upon hearing the sound launched a rescue operation. Police shifted the bodies of the deceased to the mortuary of a nearby govt hospital. Chittarikkal police have registered a case.
