The team held discussions on academic and institutional cooperation in fisheries, marine sciences and the blue economy. Kochi : A ministerial delegation from Seychelles, led by minister for fisheries, agriculture and blue economy Wallace Cosgrow, visited Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) on Friday.
Officials from Cusat said fisheries, aquaculture, seafood value addition, post-harvest technology, product development, exports, marine sciences and the blue economy were identified as potential areas of cooperation. The delegation also expressed interest in strengthening the capacity of institutions and academic personnel in Seychelles, according to university officials. The possibility of consultancy and technical support by Cusat was also discussed. Possibilities for collaboration with the University of Seychelles, as well as cooperation in atmospheric sciences and related interdisciplinary areas, were also discussed. Meanwhile, minister Cosgrow proposed taking the cooperation forward through a formal memorandum of understanding, which could provide a framework for academic exchanges, training, capacity building, research and consultancy initiatives.
