Kochi : State human rights commission chairperson Justice Alexander Thomas has demanded that the potholes on Kundannur-Thevara bridge be immediately closed and tarred again. The commission has directed the executive engineer (national highways division) of the public works department to take action after appointing an assistant executive engineer to conduct a site inspection. It has directed that any situation that may cause danger to public should be avoided. The assistant executive engineer should forward the site inspection report to the executive engineer. The executive engineer should inform the commission of the steps taken within three weeks. The work was done using stone mastic asphalt technology, developed in Germany. In some places, the tar portion got damaged, exposing the concrete structure of the bridge. NH Aluva subdivision did the work.
