On July 4, 2024, Madan and three associates entered the Sivaganga court complex dressed as lawyers to evade police and surrendered before a magistrate. In Sept 2024, he and three co-accused were detained under the Goondas Act.

Police said a gang armed with sickles and other weapons surrounded Madan while he was watching a vadamadu manjuvirattu at Melamangalam near Okkur. He tried to escape, but the assailants chased him into a sugarcane field and hacked him on his face, arms and legs. He died on the spot. Police alleged that Madan and his associates later attacked the brothers while they were sleeping with three friends at Kallanai near Kollangudi. Their companions escaped and alerted Kalaiyarkoil police. Investigators initially arrested seven suspects and alleged that Madan and others had planned the murders through Instagram using a woman’s mobile phone.

Madurai : Two years after two brothers were hacked to death following a quarrel over a bull at a manjuvirattu, a man accused in the double murder was chased into a sugarcane field and killed while attending another such event in Sivaganga district on Sunday.

Police suspect Sunday’s killing was retaliation for the brothers’ murders. A case has been registered, and teams are searching for the assailants. Madan’s body was sent to Sivaganga Government Medical College Hospital for postmortem examination.
