The shipping route covers Qinzhou, Haiphong, Tuticorin, Kattupalli and Vietnam’s Chu Lai before returning to China, said an official release. Port authority chairperson Susanta Kumar Purohit said the new service would strengthen maritime connectivity and facilitate international trade. Madurai: VO Chidambaranar Port, Tuticorin has secured a new container shipping service connecting southern China and Vietnam, offering additional trade routes for exporters and importers in southern Tamil Nadu. The service is expected to benefit solar panel and electric vehicle manufacturers in the port’s hinterland, besides providing additional market access for other industries. It will also allow shipping companies and logistics operators to move export containers from Tuticorin to Kattupalli for transshipment to other destinations. The service, operated by Regional Container Line (RCL), commenced with the arrival of Singapore-flagged MV Nawata Bhum at Dakshin Bharat Gateway Terminal (DBGT) on Sunday.
