Kozhikode : The directorate of revenue intelligence (DRI) seized 770g of gold worth around Rs 1.15 crore that was allegedly concealed in the diaper of an eight-month-old baby at Karipur airport.

The gold was brought in the form of a mixture and was recovered from the baby’s diaper and the father, said DRI. The child’s father, a native of Kokkur in Ponnani, had allegedly attempted to smuggle the gold by concealing some of it on his body as well.

Earlier, his wife was arrested at Nedumbassery airport on Saturday with 1.7kg of gold that she had concealed in a sanitary napkin she wore. The man arrived at Kozhikode airport from Ras Al Khaimah on an Air India Express flight on Tuesday morning with his three daughters, aged eight months, four and six.
