A cyber fraud case involving former founding director of AIIMS Patna and senior orthopaedic professor Dr Girish Kumar Singh, 72, has been reported in Lucknow, with cybercriminals allegedly siphoning ₹3,22,408 from his bank account over a period of more than two months.
Lucknow: Police have registered a cyber fraud case after cybercriminals allegedly siphoned ₹3,22,408 from the Indian Bank account of Girish Kumar Singh (72), founding director of AIIMS Patna and a senior orthopaedic professor. In his complaint, Singh stated that multiple unauthorised transactions were carried out from his account between July 3 and Sept 15, over a period of more than two months. He reported the incident on National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) on Sept 18.

He told police he had not shared any OTP, passwords or confidential banking details with anyone. Singh said he learnt about the unauthorised withdrawals after the amounts were deducted from his account. Singh, currently serving at Prasad Institute of Medical Sciences, lives in the Eldeco Emperor locality on Dr Baijnath Road in Nishatganj. After receiving the complaint, Mahanagar police booked a case under relevant provisions and began an investigation. Sub-Inspector Jai Karan Singh Bhadoria has been assigned the probe. Police are scrutinising bank statements, transaction records and digital trail evidence to identify those behind the fraud. Download the TOI App.
