Sangam city’s Moonj products to be shown at UP International Trade Show
Prayagraj : From eco-friendly Moonj crafts and traditional ittar to packaged samosas and embroidered apparel, entrepreneurs from Sangam City are taking a slice of Prayagraj’s craftsmanship, flavours and enterprise to the global stage at the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) 2026 in Greater Noida from Sept 25 to 29. . The district’s participation in UPITS has been growing annually, and this year, at least 10 entrepreneurs from the Sangam city will take part, showcasing local products at their allotted stalls. Sharad Tandon, deputy commissioner (industries), said 10 participants from Prayagraj have been selected across various categories. Additionally, five MSME units and one ‘Emerging Exporter’ have been selected, bringing the total number of allotted stalls to 12. 10. Products selected under the ‘One District, One Dish’ (ODOD) scheme—launched by the Yogi government to globally brand Uttar Pradesh’s rich culinary heritage—will also showcase their flavours at UPITS 2026. Over 5,000 units of this dry variant are being transported to the trade show. Special attention has been paid to the packaging, allowing the product to be stored at home for up to 15 days. Anwar Azam, a representative of this unit selected under the MSME category, said that 60 varieties of ittar (perfume)—blending tradition with modernity—will showcase their captivating aromas at the trade show.

Pawan Kumar Mishra, a partner at ‘The Perfect Bazaar’, said that they have been allotted a stall in Hall No. The UPITS initiative provides a significant global platform for local entrepreneurs, artisans and innovators from all UP districts, including Prayagraj. Entrepreneurs from various sectors in Prayagraj have been given the opportunity to participate in the fourth edition of the UP International Trade Show. Stalls for three units will be set up under the One District One Product (ODOP) category. These selected units will showcase a blend of the city’s traditional handicrafts, cuisine and apparel. ‘Moonj’ products, selected under the ODOP category, are poised to gain special recognition at the trade show. ‘The Perfect Bazaar’, a Prayagraj-based unit manufacturing international-quality ‘Moonj’ products, has been selected in this category. The unit will display over a dozen types of products across various categories. All their products are eco-friendly and are already available on online platforms. Tandon, meanwhile, maintained that the ODOD category has been included in UPITS for the first time, with complimentary stalls being provided to participants. Eleven applications were received for this category, and Prayagraj’s packaged samosas—renowned for their traditional taste—secured a spot. The selected product is the packaged samosa from ‘Munda Snacks’, located at Balua Ghat, Prayagraj. Amit Yadav, a representative of Munda Snacks, explained that while their samosas made with desi ghee, paneer and dry fruits are famous for their delicious taste, they are showcasing their ‘dry masala samosa’ at the trade show to ensure the flavour remains intact during the event. Additionally, Keshari Grih Udyog, Ikava Agro and Shyam Dairy products have also secured places in the food category. The entrepreneurs selected from Prayagraj for the trade show will also demonstrate a diverse range of skills. Units specialising in apparel and perfumes have been chosen this time. Three entrepreneurs are participating in the apparel category—Pushpanjali, Aqeel Embroidery and Pawan Mishra Gramodyog. Entrepreneurs in this category will showcase their craftsmanship in khadi, cotton embroidery and hand-printing. For the first time, the ‘Whiffhaus Fragrance’ unit has also secured a place at the event. Download the TOI App.
