All office-bearers and members, including the district and metropolitan presidents, were relieved of their responsibilities, sources said. Gorakhpur : The Samajwadi Party on Sunday dissolved its Gorakhpur district and metropolitan units, along with the executive committees of its frontal organisations, a day after a scuffle broke out during a news conference in the city.

On Saturday night, Sahani lodged an FIR at Cantt police station against Anshuman Singh, his sons Kamlesh and Vimlesh Singh, and 10-12 unidentified persons.

Anshuman Singh said most seats in the hall were occupied and he had requested Sahani to shift slightly to make space for an additional chair. Former district president Brajesh Gautam said the party leadership’s decision was final and would help strengthen the organisation ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. What began as an argument soon escalated into verbal exchange and physical confrontation. During the altercation, former district president Nagina Sahani was slapped by Kamlesh Singh, son of SP leader Anshuman Singh , who is seeking a party ticket from Gorakhpur Rural assembly constituency. A video of the incident later surfaced on social media. Soon after the incident, the party expelled Anshuman Singh from its primary membership. He claimed the disagreement escalated into an argument and eventually a scuffle.
