Addressing the gathering, OSD to the governor Sudhir M Bobde said the AI policy advisory group and AI implementation group will take the AI policy in the state forward. Bobde said the implementation group would not be restricted to five universities, and that institutions could be brought into the initiative according to their areas of expertise. Rao said that India must reform its PhD programmes to make it not limited to academics only.

The five-member AI policy advisory group will be headed by former IIT Kharagpur director Prof PP Chakrabarti with CSJMU vice-chancellor Prof Vinay Pathak as its member-secretary. Focusing on implementing AI initiatives across universities, the AI implementation group will be headed by AKTU vice-chancellor Prof JP Pandey with DDU Gorakhpur University vice-chancellor Prof KP Singh as member-secretary.
