An FIR has been lodged at the Naubasta police station in Kanpur regarding a social media post deemed offensive towards Vidhan Sabha Speaker Satish Mahana. The post has sparked controversy, leading to the registration of the complaint. Authorities are expected to investigate the matter further.

He said the post used insulting and discord-spreading words against the Speaker, triggering anger among BJP workers. Naubasta police station in charge Bahadur Singh said police were gathering information with the help of the cyber cell to identify the person who circulated the post. Action would be taken based on the facts, he said.

Complainant Lalji Tiwari, BJP district co-treasurer and a resident of Yashoda Nagar, alleged that a Facebook page named ‘Drishtant News Anoop Gupta’ circulated the post with an objectionable headline and Mahana’s photograph. Download the TOI App.
