Lucknow: A 32-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death with a pair of scissors after an argument during a Ludo game under the Purnia flyover in Lucknow’s Aliganj area, police said.
The accused, Pradeep Singh (42) has been arrested in the murder of Abhishek Kumar Awasthi, also known as Rahul Awasthi, a resident of Sitapur. Police received information at about 5.51 pm on Oct 3 and took him to King George’s Medical University, where he died during treatment. A murder case was registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Police said a group of youths were playing Ludo under the flyover and consuming alcohol when a dispute erupted. Investigators said Singh then picked up scissors from a nearby roadside massage shop and repeatedly stabbed Awasthi in the chest and abdomen. The quarrel allegedly intensified after Awasthi used abusive language against Singh’s mother. The victim collapsed at the spot. Police recovered bloodstained scissors and seized clothes allegedly worn by the accused. Download the TOI App.
