The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Lucknow: Police on Sunday arrested Divya Shukla, sister of prime accused Rishabh Shukla, in connection with the Oct 26 triple murder in Brahmani Tola of Saadatganj. Police said she was carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 and had been absconding since the incident.

The remaining seven accused were arrested in phases on Oct 26, 27 and 31. Police identified Divya Shukla (32) as the daughter of Girish Shukla and the wife of Jitendra Tiwari. The triple murder occurred on Oct 26 after a dispute between two families over the construction of a platform around a banyan tree and the parking of vehicles on an adjoining vacant plot. The deceased were identified as Shivaji Tiwari (62), Shivendra Tiwari alias Shambhu (57) and Suyash Tiwari (30).

DCP West JK Srivastava said Divya was arrested from Kooda Chauraha on IIM Road in Dubagga by a joint team comprising Saadatganj police and the western zone surveillance unit. With Divya’s arrest, police said all eight accused named in the FIR have now been taken into custody. Officials said she was residing in the Kailash State area of Dubagga.

Her arrest came a day after police detained Rajesh Shukla alias Tunnu, the uncle of the prime accused, who was also on the run. The confrontation escalated into violence, with three members of the Tiwari family attacked using sticks, stones and firearms. Police alleged the accused surrounded the three, assaulted them and shot them dead. A video of the incident later went viral. Following the incident, the station house officer was removed and the entire police outpost staff was sent to police lines over alleged negligence.
