Lucknow: At least seven unidentified bodies have recovered from Gandak (Narayani) river in Maharajganj and Kushinagar districts of Uttar Pradesh till Friday morning, after devastating floods in Nepal triggered a sharp rise in the river’s water flow.
Officials said efforts were on to identify the deceased. Bodies of three women and a man were found in Telphal area of Maharajganj district. Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel, who were conducting surveillance and rescue operations along the river, reached the spot in a motorboat and retrieved the bodies. Meanwhile, three bodies were found near Siswagopal village near Chhitauni embankment of Gandak river in Kushinagar.
Villagers spotted the bodies of two women and a man in the river on Thursday night and informed the police.
