They arrived on two motorcycles and opened fire as Balyan stepped out of the gym and walked towards his Scorpio SUV. The attackers allegedly followed him to the vehicle and continued firing at close range. The attackers allegedly fled the scene after shooting Balyan. Police teams reached the spot soon after and began examining the circumstances of the killing. Teams were formed to identify and arrest the assailants, while CCTV footage from the gym and surrounding areas was being examined. Police are examining available CCTV footage to identify the assailants and establish the sequence of events. The attackers were allegedly on two motorcycles when they opened fire outside the gym.
Family and supporters protest after the killing
Protesters blocked the Delhi-Muzaffarnagar Road, around 50 metres from the shooting site, demanding immediate arrests and strict action against the accused. The murder triggered protests by Balyan’s family members, supporters and villagers.
