Meerut: A purported video showing a woman in her 20s threatening to “become Phoolan Devi” and set the homes of revenue officials on fire surfaced on Saturday, two days after a thatched hut was gutted during land measurement in Budaun district.
All except Ramwati were sent to 14-day judicial custody, Singh said.
Budaun SP (City) Abhishek Singh said the revenue team later measured the land and closed the matter. An FIR has been registered and five accused have been arrested,” he said. In the video, Shivani Singh , a Budaun resident, was seen alleging that lekhpal Dhirendra Singh set her hut on fire and fled. She also threatened to have police and revenue officials jailed. TOI could not independently verify the video or the allegations. The cause of the fire will be established after investigation. Budaun Police, however, have registered a case against nine people based on a complaint by Dhirendra Singh, presenting a different account of the incident. “The accused then objected to the proceedings, obstructed govt officials in discharging their duties, set their hut on fire and made a false video. Police identified the arrested accused as Ramprasad, Balveer, Chaman, Ramwati and Hardev.
