GTA 6 is all set to release on November 19 and has a pre-load size of 212 GB (Image via Rockstar Games)
Rockstar Games has moved the Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) preload up by two days. Digital pre-orders can now start downloading on November 10, 2026, ahead of the game’s November 19 launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. In the section below, we take a detailed look at GTA 6’s release date, pre-load schedule, file size, and what else Rockstar announced. GTA 6 is now confirmed to release on November 19, 2026 and the game will unlock for each region at their respective midnight times. The download takes up 212 GB, so you’ll need at least that much free space, plus a little extra for system overhead. That figure is close to the 210 GB number that circulated in earlier leaks. The two platforms use different clocks: PS5: 12 AM local time on November 10 Xbox Series X|S: 12 AM GMT on November 10 PS5 players get a simple rule: the preload opens at midnight wherever you are. Here is when the Xbox preload begins in each region: Americas (November 9) Pacific: 4 PM Mountain: 5 PM Central: 6 PM Eastern: 7 PM Brasília: 9 PM, November 9 Europe (November 10) UK: 12 AM Central Europe: 1 AM Asia (November 10) India: 5:30 AM Japan and Korea: 9 AM Oceania (November 10) Sydney and Melbourne: 11 AM New Zealand: 1 PM Players who bought a physical copy can pre-load on November 12, once their copy ships. Physical editions are expected to be a code-in-the-box version rather than a disc, so the 212 GB download is required either way. Rockstar will release a printable GTA 6 cover art poster and a map of Leonida as free digital downloads on its website. It will cost $0.99 on its own, or come free with any purchase from the Rockstar Store. It also hasn’t confirmed whether a day-one patch will arrive on November 19, which could add to the download size. You can prepare for GTA 6’s release by freeing up at least 212 GB of storage, and a bit more if a patch is likely. This was all you needed to know about the GTA 6 pre-load date, size, and more.
As a result, New Zealand will be able to experience the game first. The pre-load was previously expected on November 12, when physical copies were due to start shipping. Additionally, you are advised to start the preload as soon as it unlocks so that nothing is left to download at launch.
Rockstar has now confirmed that digital pre-orders can begin two days earlier.
However, it is worth noting that Rockstar hasn’t said whether the poster and map will be included in the physical edition. Xbox players need to convert the GMT time. That gives digital pre-order buyers a head start of about nine days before launch, while physical buyers get one week.
