“The new playground will offer so much more than a place to play; it’s an environment where kids can practice important life skills in a setting designed specifically for them,” she said. “This grant from the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation will help make that vision a reality, and we’re excited to bring it to our community,” Brooks added. The grant will support the new Thompson Center at the University of Missouri, giving children a space to play and develop essential life skills. The donation is one part of the foundation’s work with children and families. Patrick and Brittany Mahomes have also supported food allergy awareness through their partnership with Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE), a cause that became personal after their own children experienced allergic reactions. The playground is part of the new Thompson Center for Autism & Neurodevelopment and is designed to help children develop social, emotional, physical and mental skills through play. Dr. Brooks and Jeremiah accepted the donation from Mahomes at the event. Brooks explained how the playground could help children beyond their time outdoors. She also thanked the foundation for supporting the project. The new Thompson Center facility was designed to expand services for people with autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions. It will double the number of patient rooms, allowing the centre to care for more families. The couple has also used their public platform to help families understand food allergies. Through their foundation’s partnership with FARE, they have supported educational efforts aimed at helping parents prepare for allergic reactions and manage food allergies at home and school. Their involvement comes from personal experience. Brittany has spoken about the frightening reaction their son Bronze experienced as a baby after trying peanut powder. She noticed hives spreading across his body and face within minutes. She used the injector during Bronze’s reaction, but the family still took him to the emergency room, where doctors monitored him for several hours. The family has since spoken publicly about the need for awareness and preparation. Their support for FARE has included fundraising and educational events for families navigating similar challenges. The Thompson Center grant focuses on a different need, but it reflects the foundation’s wider work to support children and their families. Get the latest Sports News and Live updates.
