Sabalenka Dominates Iatcenko at US Open
Aryna Sabalenka advanced to the third round of the US Open with an impressive 6-1, 6-1 victory over Polina Iatcenko, finishing the match in just 53 minutes.
“Happy with the level I played today, happy with the focus and happy to be through this match,” Sabalenka stated post-match.
Jessica Pegula also shared her thoughts on the rapid pace of play, noting, “To be out of there in under an hour, it doesn’t always happen. So I think I’m just going to take that one and run, I guess, until the next round.”
The tournament faced ongoing disruptions due to rain, impacting matches on outside courts while play continued under the roofs of Arthur Ashe Stadium and Louis Armstrong Stadium.
Alex de Minaur commented on the challenging conditions, saying, “It’s been a couple tough days. But I mean, these tournaments, it’s all about adapting and that’s the name of the game. There’s too much to play for to let something like this affect you.”
