Spotify has announced the launch of its Premium Early Access feature: The wider industry impact

Spotify has announced the launch of its Premium Early Access feature in India, enabling Premium subscribers to listen to select new music releases up to three days before they are available to the general public. This feature is set to be available starting August 28. Universal Music Group (UMG) will be the first label to participate in this initiative, launching its ‘Hear It First’ campaign under the new framework. After the early access period concludes, the tracks will be accessible to all Spotify users. The company has clarified that no music will be permanently withheld from the wider audience.

Spotify’s Early Access Feature Limited to Select Releases

Spotify has announced that its new early access feature will be available only for select releases that involve collaboration between artists and their labels. The platform clarified that not every new release will benefit from this early access window, indicating a selective implementation of the feature.

Among the first local releases is Badshah and Divya Kumar’s new single ‘Chimna’, which will be available to Premium subscribers on August 28. The song will be available to all listeners on August 31. It will be available to Premium subscribers from August 28 and to all listeners from August 31.

Harrdy Sandhu’s new single ‘Stuck On You’ is also part of the first wave of releases. Premium Early Access will be available to users on Spotify Premium Standard, Premium Platinum and Premium Student plans in India.
