Sridhar Vembu, founder of Zoho, has called on software professionals to consider their relevance as artificial intelligence (AI) increasingly takes over tasks traditionally performed by humans. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Vembu stated that AI could competently generate a significant portion of software code in the future. His comments were made in response to former Exa AI CEO William Bryk, who suggested that AI may soon outpace humans in mathematical capabilities. Vembu emphasized that the critical question is not whether AI can perform all tasks, but rather how many human roles will remain necessary in the process. He concluded with a call to action for those in the software sector: “All of us in software need to figure out how to stay relevant.”
