Democratic candidate Peter Crosby has 30.7 per cent support against Republican incumbent Blake Moore’s 32.4 per cent in Utah’s newly redrawn 2nd Congressional District, according to an internal poll released by the Crosby campaign. The survey, conducted among 762 registered voters from September 8-10, puts Crosby 1.7 percentage points behind Moore ahead of the November 3 general election, with the gap falling within the poll’s plus or minus 3.5 percentage-point margin of error, according to the campaign. About 25.07 per cent of respondents were unsure about their choice, while 8.53 per cent selected none of the listed candidates and 3.28 per cent chose another candidate. Party-wise breakdown Among Republican respondents, Moore led Crosby 45.7 per cent to 18 per cent, while 24 per cent were unsure. Among unaffiliated voters, Crosby received 39.4 per cent support compared with 16.5 per cent for Moore, with 30.3 per cent undecided. It said 74.4 per cent of respondents expressed concern about affordability-related issues, while 69.8 per cent cited corruption, insider trading and related accountability concerns. It surveyed nearly 800 registered Utah voters statewide, rather than voters specifically in the newly drawn congressional district.
The campaign said affordability and government accountability were the top concerns among those surveyed. However, the poll was commissioned by the Crosby campaign and is not an independent survey. The survey comes as Utah voters have also expressed dissatisfaction with several statewide political leaders. That statewide poll, however, should not be treated as a direct measure of the Utah CD2 race.
