Prasad said, “Officials have been directed to create alternative immersion ponds instead of allowing idols to be immersed directly in the Yamuna, in line with court directions and to prevent river pollution. A large number of devotees are expected at immersion points near Kailash temple, Hathi Ghat and Dashahara Ghat. Download the TOI App.
The civic body has also been asked to put up barricades, ensure adequate lighting, clean the ghats and approach roads, sprinkle lime and repair potholes before the immersion processions reach the sites. On Sunday, ACP Hariparwat Bajrang Prasad inspected security arrangements at a pandal in the Raja Ki Mandi area, while municipal commissioner Santosh Kumar Vaishya and additional municipal commissioner Shishir Kumar had inspected Dashahara and Hathi ghats along the Yamuna a day earlier to review immersion-related arrangements.
