Ahmedabad: The delayed PhD admission process at Gujarat University has received a relatively low response, with around 1,700 students registering so far. It then decided to conduct the process independently and announced registration from Aug 25 to Sep 7. The entrance exam is scheduled to be held on Sep 26, from noon to 2 pm. Earlier, the university had announced 727 PhD seats across various subjects. Accountancy had the highest number of vacancies, with 56 seats.

The university had initially faced uncertainty over the process due to technical issues related to the Samarth portal. Because of the delay at Gujarat University, sources said many students who were interested in pursuing PhD studies had already secured admissions to other universities.

GU has extended the registration deadline by one day, but the number of applicants remains significantly lower than last year.
