New Delhi: Three people allegedly involved in harassing a woman from Nagaland and assaulting her friends with hockey sticks at a five-star hotel in New Delhi’s Chanakyapuri in the early hours of Oct 4 have been bound down.
The suspects are residents of Jangpura, Bhogal and Kotla Mubarakpur in south Delhi.
Based on the PCR call, circumstances at the spot, medical reports and the complaint, police registered an FIR under Sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 126(2) (wrongful restraint) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). They also hit two of my other friends with hockey sticks, took out a gear lock and started beating all three of them,” according to her complaint. “First, a friend came to save us while we were struggling. The three people hit him with hockey sticks and punched him on the face. She further alleged that the trio had removed their car’s number plate to conceal their identity and attempted to flee after police arrived, and even tried to hit them with their car. An inquiry has revealed that a scuffle broke out around 3.30am after the trio allegedly played music in their car in the hotel parking area, which was objected to by the other group. However, in her complaint to police, the 28-year-old woman alleged that she and a friend were returning from the washroom when three unknown men travelling in a white Mercedes allegedly tried to abduct them.
“Both of the groups had come to a club on the premises in the hotel,” police said. Cops said this claim is under investigation. An argument followed and soon escalated. The woman also alleged that when three of her male friends intervened, the trio attacked them with hockey sticks and punches.
Being bound down means they are required to appear before the investigating officer whenever called and must inform police before leaving Delhi.
