Ahmedabad: More than 30,000 seats remain vacant across nursing, physiotherapy and other paramedical courses after the completion of the second round of admissions for 2026-27.
The admission committee has allotted seats to another 10,161 students in the second round. Students who have been allotted seats in the second round have been instructed to confirm their admission by Sept 25 by paying the prescribed fee online. The admission process covers more than 10 courses offered through 1,079 colleges. Of the total 51,470 seats, only 20,233 have been allotted so far, leaving more than 30,000 seats vacant. In the first round, seats were allotted to 21,388 students. However, only around 10,000 students had confirmed their admissions by the end of the round. The second round has now resulted in 10,161 additional allotments. Of these, 652 students shifted from the college allotted to them in the first round to another college, while the allotment of 9,420 students remained unchanged. The admission process has been expedited as the deadline for completing admissions to nursing, physiotherapy and related courses has been set for Sept 30. Meanwhile, more than 150 nursing colleges are awaiting approval from the concerned council. With only a few days remaining before the Sept 30 deadline, college managements have reportedly sought an extension of the admission schedule.

The actual number of vacant seats will become clear after the deadline, admission committee sources said. If these institutions receive approval in the coming days, their seats may also be included in the ongoing admission process. As has happened in previous years, the deadline may be extended this year as well. Download the TOI App.
Consequently, the committee announced the second round even before the first-round process had fully concluded and completed the second-round allotment on Wednesday.
