Ballari : Five suspects have been arrested in connection with an alleged attempted murder case after a violent clash between two rival groups near a petrol bunk on Talur Road in Ballari.

As some of the accused are history-sheeters, police raided more than 20 houses linked to rowdy-sheeters across Ballari.

The clash broke out after members of the two groups exchanged hostile looks while refueling near the petrol bunk, according to police. Ballari SP Suman Pannekar said there had been previous disputes between Madhu and those accused in the attack. Police said all those involved will be booked under the Goonda Act in addition to the attempted murder case.

Police arrested Satish, Vikram , Ravi, Sheikshavali and Khalil. They were traced to Kanakagiri and taken into custody after the police formed three special teams to track them. The confrontation quickly escalated into a gang attack in which a man named Madhu was allegedly singled out and brutally assaulted. CCTV footage of the incident, which has gone viral, showed the intensity of the assault and prompted swift police action. They seized one car and four motorcycles believed to have been used in the attack. Four other suspects connected to the case are still on the run.
