Two held with 100 tapentadol sent via courier in Madurai
Madurai : In a targeted crackdown against illicit drug peddling, Madurai city police on Tuesday arrested two men after intercepting a courier consignment containing 100 tapentadol tablets meant for illegal sale. The arrested individuals have been identified as Asaipandi, 32, a native of Periyakulam, and Muthukumar , 24, from Andipatti in Theni district. During a search, police found them in possession of 100 tapentadol tablets intended for illicit distribution and seized the drugs.
Acting on a specific tip-off that a parcel containing tapentadol pills was arriving at a private courier facility within the Madakkulam police limits, an anti-narcotics squad led by sub-inspector Kodeeswara Maruthu carried out a surprise raid. The team intercepted two suspects who had arrived to collect the parcel. Both were handed over to the Madakkulam police station, where a case has been registered. Subsequently, the duo was produced before a judicial magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
