Kanpur: As many as 100 beneficiaries of the Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojna were provided took kits on Vishwakarma Puja and Prime Minister Narendra Modi ’s birthday on Thursday.
The highest number of kits wre provided to 58 beneficiaries from tailoring trade folowed by beneficiaries from confectioner (halwai) trade (12) and the mason and blacksmith trades (15 each). The event was held under Seva Sankalp campaign in presence of MLA Surendra Maithani, Neelima Katiyar and CDO Abhinav J Jain. Artisans belonging to the trades of tailor, confectioner, mason, and blacksmith were provided with tools related to their professions. Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana aims to encourage the skills of traditional artisans and craftspeople and connect them with self-employment opportunities. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Surendra Maithani stated that traditional artisans are provided with the necessary tools suited to their skills enabling them to perform their work more effectively and increase their income through self-employment. MLA Neelima Katiyar stated that traditional artisans possess skills acquired over generations.
