Dehradun: Central govt has reaffirmed its commitment to preserving Uttarakhand’s forest resources and Himalayan ecosystem, approving financial assistance worth Rs 945.69 crore over the past three fiscal years under the National Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA).
The financial allocation over the three-year period includes Rs 383.82 crore for 2023–24, Rs 335.37 crore for 2024–25, and Rs 226.5 crore for 2025–26. In a formal communication to CM Pushkar Singh Dhami , union minister for environment, forest and climate change Bhupender Yadav outlined the state’s funding roadmap.
Looking ahead, the state govt has submitted a Rs 339 crore Annual Plan of Operation (APO) for the 2026–27 financial year. Evaluating the APO under the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Act, 2016, National CAMPA has cleared Rs 104.35 crore, with the remaining proposals reviewed during the executive committee’s 40th meeting. The funds will drive forest protection, ecosystem restoration and biodiversity conservation. Expressing gratitude, Dhami highlighted that protecting the fragile Himalayan ecology remains a top priority, with central aid playing a crucial role in accelerating conservation efforts.
