2 killed, 25 injured as gunfire erupts at homecoming party in Georgia

The shooting took place at around 1:25 am during a large gathering attended by more than 1,000 people.

Dooly County Coroner Brett Walls confirmed that the two people killed were men aged 20 and 23. The violence in Vienna came amid a weekend of shootings across the United States, including a deadly incident in Baltimore, where a 12-year-old girl was killed and three others were injured after gunfire broke out near a youth football event. Their identities have not been released as authorities continue to investigate the incident.

In the Baltimore incident, police said an argument between two men apparently began over a parking spot before both opened fire. The incident occurred during a homecoming celebration that had drawn a large crowd to the area. Authorities have not yet disclosed what may have led to the shooting or whether the gunfire involved a dispute between individuals. The girl was a bystander and was struck by gunfire.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting local authorities with the investigation.
