ESPN’s Paul Finebaum rejects Eli Drinkwitz Alabama rumor as Kalen DeBoer faces a crucial LSU test

The Tigers are 6-2 overall and ranked No. 18 in the first College Football Playoff rankings released on November 3. Texas is also 6-2 and sits at No. 7. The two teams will meet on Saturday, November 7. Speaking on McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning on November 2, Finebaum explained why he believes the game is so important for DeBoer.

He claimed his sources had told him that Drinkwitz could be offered Alabama’s head coaching job if Missouri defeated Texas and Alabama lost to LSU.

“My sources are telling me I have some breaking news,” John said. He said the caller had no reliable information to support the rumor and made it clear that he did not believe Alabama was planning to make such a move. “I just think it’s self-explanatory the magnitude of this game,” Finebaum said.

During a recent episode of The Paul Finebaum Show, a caller named John from St. Louis asked Finebaum about what he described as breaking news. It’s going to be behind closed doors. It’s going to be kind of a double secret. Finebaum did not take long to reject the claim. Missouri also has a major game coming up against Texas. “I mean, even if Brian Kelly was still there at LSU, it would still have massive importance. But the fact that Lane Kiffin is there, I think for Kalen DeBoer, it’s a must-win. I know that’s pretty obvious to say, but I think to continue some momentum that he had when October began, he’s got to get out of Tiger Stadium with a win.”

“I want you to try to confirm all this, but my sources are telling me that if Missouri beats Texas on Saturday and Alabama loses, then Drinkwitz is going to be offered the Alabama job.

The claim came from a caller on The Paul Finebaum Show, who said Alabama could make a secret offer to Drinkwitz. ESPN’s Paul Finebaum has strongly rejected a rumor linking Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz to Alabama’s job if the Crimson Tide lose to LSU and Missouri beats Texas this weekend. Finebaum dismissed the idea outright, while Alabama’s upcoming game against LSU continues to put the spotlight on Kalen DeBoer. Finebaum also spoke about the reaction Alabama could face if the team fails to win.

He believes fans may turn their frustration toward DeBoer after previously directing much of their criticism at offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb.
